Left-wing media tries to “fact check” Trump speech, ends up confirming he’s RIGHT

The Left-leaning “mainstream” media tried its best to take apart POTUS Donald Trump’s Oval Office speech earlier this week by “fact-checking” everything he said.

Desperate for any ‘gotcha’ moment they can produce, editors at one news network, CBS, thought they had the president on something he said, so they quickly pounced.

The network published a “fact check” piece that it had to quickly delete because it turns out that POTUS Trump was right and CBS News essentially proved it.

During his speech, the president said of the explosion of illegal immigration along our southwestern border, “Women and children are the biggest victims by far of our broken system. One-in-three women are sexually assaulted on the dangerous trek up through Mexico,” The Daily Wire noted.

CBS’ live fact checker noted:

Fact check: 1 in 3 women sexually assaulted while traveling to cross the border.

CLAIM: The president claimed one in three women have been sexually assaulted traveling to the border.

FACT: Between 60 percent and 80 percent of female migrants traveling through Mexico are raped along the way, Amnesty International estimates.

So in other words, the president said about 33 percent of women and young female migrants were assaulted sexually but the real number was actually more than double that. He should take that as a win.

In fact, some on social media even believed that the president gave the lower figure intentionally knowing that the media’s so-called fact checkers would be hinging on his every word waiting to pounce.

The president left the lamestream media nothing to ‘fact check’

Whether it was intentional or whether the president was trolling the establishment media, he didn’t give them anything to go on in terms of disputing the veracity of what he was saying Tuesday night. As noted by Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, POTUS left them with nothing to ‘fact check.’

“Sadly, the dizzy anticipation overwhelmed the payoff. Afterward, they seem so deflated they had to return to their late-night booty call, ‘collusion.’ It’s always there for them,” the network funnyman joked.

Gutfeld did acknowledge that the establishment media tried to fact-check the president but couldn’t because the information he put out during his short speech was simply accurate and “sobering.”

That included providing details of Americans who have been killed by illegal aliens such as police Cpl. Ronil Singh, “a dismembered neighbor,” and “gang members stabbing a young girl to death,” Gutfeld noted. “Those, sadly, are facts.”

He also noted that the president put House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and House Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., whom he referred to as “Ma and Pa Kettle,” in a “fact-check box.”

The best media “overreach,” however, came from The Washington Post, which ran this story January 5, just a few days before POTUS Trump’s speech: “After years of Trump’s dire warnings, a ‘crisis’ has hit the border but generates little urgency,” under the subhead of “National Security.”

The story noted:

With parts of the federal government shut down over what has morphed into the defining symbol of Trump’s presidency, administration officials are clamoring louder than ever. Only this time, they face a bona fide emergency on the border, and they’re struggling to make the case there’s truly a problem.

But that didn’t last long. Gutfeld pointed out that the Post called POTUS “a liar” after he made references to a “humanitarian crisis” on the border just a few days later.

“Was it because he used their analysis?” Gutfeld joked. “No wonder nobody pays attention to these so-called ‘fact checkers.’ They don’t even trust what they say to themselves, and neither do we.”
